Acquisition expands MDL global tensioner fleet

MDL has acquired a fleet of third-party tensioners in a recent market sale.

The systems, ranging from 3- to 36-tonne line-pull and located across the UK, Middle East and APAC, strengthen MDL’s capability to support cable and pipelay operations across offshore oil and gas, renewables and subsea markets worldwide.

The acquisition supports MDL’s continued growth across both traditional offshore markets and the energy transition.

The acquisition follows MDL’s recent fleet expansion that added a significant range of winches and ancillary equipment to the business. The company has since undertaken a refurbishment and upgrade programme to bring those assets in line with MDL operational standards, further strengthening its integrated offering.
