Thermoplastic Composite Pipe concept testing

A composite pipe manufacturer approached MDL for expertise in pipe handling and to facilitate a simulated test, demonstrating to its end client — an Operator in South America — the feasibility of its DRP annulus hose system concept.

MDL designed and delivered a mock system, including custom-manufactured quadrants that replicated a dynamic offshore arrangement. MDL Project Management and Engineering team oversaw a comprehensive pressure test, demonstrating the product’s performance under operational conditions.

Leveraging over 25 years of expertise in optimised pipe handling, MDL successfully executed the testing, witnessed by the TCP manufacturer and its end client. This not only validated the feasibility of the DRP annulus hose system but also helped the client strengthen confidence in its bespoke high-capacity product.
