Environmental Commitment
We understand the responsibility we have for the planet.
By actively implementing sustainable practices, enhancing our processes and fostering strong partnerships, we're driving innovation to support the energy transition and setting a standard for a greener, cleaner and more responsible subsea industry.
Our green targets
The first step towards meeting our environmental commitment is being aware of our carbon footprint and taking responsible measures to reduce it.
In 2024, we established our business's CO2 baseline and have set ourselves the target to lower our GHG intensity by 30% by 2030.
To achieve this goal, we have developed an annual set of SMART objectives, captured in our annual ESG Report.
Our ISO 14001 accreditation demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability, leading to both environmental and business benefits.
Driving the energy transition
To support the global goal of moving away from fossil fuels and towards a sustainable future, we are applying the forward-thinking engineering skills we have developed over many years to design the most efficient clean-energy solutions.
To bolster this commitment we have established an Innovation Forum, focused on R&D activities to identify systems and solutions that can efficiently advance green power generation - and consequently apply our in-house expertise to bring them to life.
Our technology is already making a positive difference to conventional energy operations. By applying our modern and versatile flex-lay technology on locally-available vessels of opportunity, we help minimise the length of projects and the number of offshore transits, resulting in reduction in fuel usage and associated GHG emissions.
Resource conservation and waste management
Based on MDL's promise to the planet and our communities, we continue to improve the sustainability of our processes. We have worked hard to find a way to repurpose and recycle our retrieved products and we continue to evaluate all aspects of our supply chain to ensure the environmental commitment of our suppliers matches our own.
With the recent move to our new premises, we have streamlined our operations from multiple facilities, now under one roof. The state-of-the-art facility will allow us to further drive down our operating carbon footprint, through initiatives such as light motion sensors on short time intervals, digitalised workflows, reduction of unnecessary printing, increase in sustainable travel and flexible work times, along with greater use of electric vehicles and EV charging.
