Asset acquisition grows Life of Field inventory

MDL has expanded its renewables and civil engineering inventory with a range of Life of Field assets.

The expansive array of equipment consists of winches - including a 500-tonne linear winch - marine cranes and spoolers for various onshore and offshore handling operations; as well as decommissioning packages of shears, grabs and subsea baskets.

The assets complement MDL’s market-leading fleet of flexlay equipment, to form turnkey lay, retrieval and transpooling packages for quayside and near-shore handling, and for offshore, deployed on various vessels and barges.

Additionally, the assets will enhance other parts of the business, such as the inspection, repair and upgrade services offered by MDL Asset Maintenance & Engineering (AME) to topside operators, quayside infrastructure and product manufacturing facilities.

To facilitate efficient access to the assets and ensure their market-readiness, MDL has established a new division: Winches & Lifting Solutions. Leading the client focus is Craig MacBeath, who has joined as Head of Sales for the new division.

Andrew Blaquiere, MDL Managing Director, said: “Following our earlier announcement of investment into newbuild MDL assets, we are pleased to further enhance our in-house offering with this versatile range of Life of Field assets.

“This acquisition strengthens MDL’s ability to provide turnkey solutions to customers, enhancing service quality and responsiveness while helping to streamline contracting – all this across the traditional energy sectors, as well as renewables and civil engineering.

“Naturally, we are applying our strict maintenance procedure to these assets and as our high quality assurance requirements are satisfied, they are being systematically added to our portfolio with that ‘MDL Approved’ stamp.

“I’m excited to see MDL continue to grow across all levels of the business - and in doing so, strengthening our support to our clients around the world.”
