Challenge
Ahead of a new drilling campaign in the North Sea, an operator was looking to overhaul the drilling package on their platform. Due to our track record and expertise, they turned to MDL to take care of the Blowout Preventer winches.
MDL Solution
MDL stripped the winches down, performed a full inspection and maintenance of all components, followed by re-assembly and testing to 150% SWL to ensure full functionality. MDL also performed a structural assessment of the winch foundations.
Outcomes
Despite being out of service for a number of years, the winches were reinstated to full working order. The expert and thorough approach by MDL ensured reliability and safety of the equipment on critical upcoming operations.
