Light the North Colouring Competition

Terms & Conditions

  1. By submitting an entry into the competition you accept the following terms and conditions.
  2. The competition organiser is Maritime Developments Limited (MDL), a limited company registered in Scotland SC200926.
  3. The competition and these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed according to Scottish law.
  4. The competition is open to all children under the age of 12, including those of MDL personnel, and runs between 9 August and 31 October 2021.
  5. Only one entry per child is permitted.
  6. It is assumed that the entry is made by the child’s parent or rightful guardian, or - if the entry is made directly by the child - that the parent or rightful guardian has given their permission for participation.
  7. Entries must be sent in a digital form (recommended JPEG, PNG, GIF or TIFF) via email to hello@maritimedevelopments.com with "Light the North” as the subject. The email must include the child’s name and age, either in the subject or body of the email. Avoid signing the original artwork in a visible place to allow the judges to make an impartial vote.
  8. Original artwork can be produced in any material. The submission may be a digital photo of a 2D artwork or a scan of the work.
  9. The competition opens for entries from 9 August 2021. The deadline for entries is midnight on 31 October 2021. We are not responsible for late, lost or delayed entries.
  10. The winners of the 3 sets of Lego® Ocean Exploration ROV and 3 sets of Lego® Ocean Exploration Base will be drawn from all valid entries in a “blind draw”.
  11. The winner of the Lego® Exploration Ship will be selected from all entries by an impartial panel of judges elected internally within MDL.
  12. We will notify winners using the email address provided with the submission on or before 30 November 2021.
  13. If we do not receive a response from a winner within 10 days after being notified, the prize will be forfeited. We will then draw/choose a new winner for that prize.
  14. We will require the winner’s address to post the prizes. These details will not be kept on file and will be removed from our database upon successful receipt of the prize by the entrant. Alternatively, pick-up can be arranged from Westhill or Peterhead if it is safe to do so in line with the current Government guidelines on social distancing.
  15. We reserve the right to cancel the competition at any stage if we deem necessary, or for reasons beyond our reasonable control. We will have no liability to the entrants in respect of any such cancellation.
  16. Winners grant us an irrevocable, perpetual royalty free licence to reproduce, enlarge, publish or exhibit their artwork, mechanically or electronically on any media platform (including the internet).
  17. Winning entrants shall not object to any cropping or other minor alteration of the photographs of their artwork when used outside the remit of this competition.
  18. By submitting an entry, the child, their parent or rightful guardian confirm that they have entered the competition with their own original work; that all copyright, and any other intellectual property rights in the artwork photograph are vested in the child and they have not assigned, licensed or disposed of or otherwise encumbered any of their rights in the artwork; that it does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party in respect of the artwork, and that the child’s parent/rightful guardian will indemnify MDL against any claims made against MDL by any third parties in respect of such infringement.
