Good Health and Well-being
UN SDG 3 promotes good health and wellbeing, disease disease prevention and control, maternal and child health, mental health, universal health coverage, and health emergency preparedness.
The health and well-being of One Team MDL is very close to our hearts. MDL supports our employees’ mental health with regular in-office and offsite initiatives.
These include “Walk & Talk” afternoons with team-building exercises in the countryside, as well as providing welfare resources, live webinars and support materials through our intranet.
All our sites have a dedicated and named mental health first aider, trained to assist employees in times of personal or professional hardship.
Quality Education
MDL has a long history of nurturing skilled employees through apprenticeships. We are passionate about empowering our apprentices to learn on the job with the support of our experienced workforce and see them gain a nationally-recognised qualification.
For individuals who are still exploring their future career options, we offer internships and work placements across the different parts of the business.
We actively encourage employees’ Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and support self-identified training and further learning activities to aid the employees in their careers.
Gender Equality
We ensure all job applicants and employees receive equal opportunities in employment at MDL regardless of gender or other personal traits including sexual orientation, marital or civil partnership status, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, disability or age. This includes all aspects of employment with the company, including recruitment, pay and conditions, training, appraisals, and promotion.
During the recruitment process, all candidates are assessed on merit of their suitability for the role, skillset and experience.
Affordable and Clean Energy
As a forward-thinking partner for the global energy sector, we are at the forefront of enabling an efficient energy transition – whenever possible, using tools and technology already in our portfolio or of the wider industry.
Innovation is at our core, and we exploring ideas for efficient renewable energy solutions of the future. To that end, we are driving engagement with industry and government bodies to identify requirements, conceptualise solutions and eventually bring these to the market. We truly believe the progress in delivering these solutions will ultimately lead to clean and affordable energy being available to everyone.
Decent Work and Economic Growth
UN SDG 8 promotes decent work and economic growth, equal opportunities, sustainable and inclusive business practices, youth employment and global partnerships.
At MDL, our employees work in an environment that supports their health and wellbeing, because we believe that if we take care of the business, the business will take care of us.
As an equal opportunity employer, we provide fair and inclusive workplace, enhancing employee morale, engagement and productivity.
MDL HSEQ commitment is to maintain the highest health, safety, environmental and quality practices.
Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
UN SDG 9 promotes economic growth, innovation and sustainable industrialisation.
One of MDL’s core values is to challenge everything – our products, processes and personnel – to do better, creating a culture of safety and innovation.
This approach has led to recognition of our proactive, resourceful and creative engineering solutions that have to date generated significant cost and GHG efficiencies in the SURF market.
MDL has been successful in driving down offshore vessel days to reduce the environmental impact of these operations.
Responsible Consumption and Production
UN SDG 12 promotes sustainable consumption and production, environmental sustainability, climate change mitigation, resource efficiency, waste reduction and sustainable lifestyles.
As a business, MDL supports responsible manufacture and usage to reduce the negative impact that energy production and consumption can have on nature. MDL focuses on minimising waste and driving responsible refuse processes and recycling.
On projects, repurposing is the ethos of our portable technology. MDL systems are designed to integrate into variousconfigurations for different applications, to deliver multi-tasking solutions with a long life expectancy and low maintenance requirements.
Life Below Water
UN SDG 14 promotes the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources, biodiversity and coastal ecosystems.
Our business started by servicing the North Sea fishing industry. Considering these origins in the marine environment, it is only natural that we are dedicated to safeguarding life below water.
Committed to protecting the environment and preventing pollution, we follow strict company guidelines on efficient work processes, which aim to reduce consumption and therefore emissions to protect the environment we live and work in.
Our technology is recognised as extremely safe in handling and safeguarding the flexible lines that are installed or removed from the seabed, minimising the risk of breakdowns and harmful spills into the sea, as well as helping to minimise disruptive O&M interventions that may otherwise be caused by improper installation and handling.
Life on Land
As we strive to protect marine life by implementing our strict environmental policies, we are equally as committed to protecting the life on land and preventing pollution. We are committed to “desktop” engineering and brainstorming before sending people or hardware to an offshore or overseas location, to make sure the processes are streamlined and logistics optimised.
Partnership for the Goals
We approach our clients as partners in identifying the most efficient solution for every project or challenge – we know that this approach makes everyone a winner. We realised that we could create a lot of positive change on our own, but when we combine our strengths, we are truly unrivalled. This partnership approach minimises waste and results in truly optimised solutions for safe and efficient operations.
As we grow our presence overseas, we seek local partners who share our mission and values. Our supply chain in Brazil is being built on that premise and with these approved companies – verified by our UK Supply Chain Management – we aspire to grow our local content responsibly and sustainably.
