Challenge
This winch was a client’s purpose-built asset for a specific project. The system lay unused but serviceable for a number of years post-project. The client decided to repurpose the winch to improve utilization. To that end, the asset required upgrades and re-certification for offshore use.
MDL Solution
MDL upgraded the spooling system to increase product capacity, as well as engineering and installing a crash frame and upgrading software. The lifting points were recertified to 1.3 DAF. MDL also supplied a newly built HPU and control system for the winch.
Outcomes
As a result, the client gained a fully operational and certified rental asset while improving their bottom line by repurposing a previously disused equipment.
