Offload Hose Reel Maintenance

An Operator engaged MDL to survey the assets onboard their FPSO to evaluate their condition and maintenance needs. During the inspection, the MDL Technician identified that the Offload Hose Reel, a critical asset, required attention.

To ensure efficient offshore execution while keeping POB to a minimum, MDL developed a detailed work scope procedure, enabling the MDL Technician onboard the FPSO to successfully replace all three gearboxes and motors on the Offload Hose Reel. When the asset still did not operate at full capacity, the technician proactively conducted further diagnostics, swiftly identifying a faulty control valve as the root cause, minimising downtime and ensuring a complete resolution.

Leveraging MDL’s specialist expertise in equipment maintenance and fault diagnosis, the technician successfully replaced the valve in-situ, eliminating the need for additional mobilisations or costly delays. This swift intervention restored the asset to full capacity, ensuring continued operational efficiency while reducing the risk of future downtime and unplanned repairs.
