Emergency FPSO Export Hose Intervention

A North Sea FPSO required a replacement export hose assembly as part of a time-critical offshore intervention programme. Twelve hose sections and their end connections needed to be inspected, assembled and leak-tested before the completed hose could be prepared for vessel loadout. The programme involved multiple contractors and interdependent activities within a demanding delivery schedule.

MDL delivered the onshore scope from its Peterhead Energy Service Base (PESB), combining its quayside infrastructure, specialist handling equipment and in-house Project Management & Engineering expertise. The MDL team inspected the hose sections, verified the reel interface, managed lifting and handling activities, and supported hose assembly and leak testing. The completed hose was then transpooled onto the 9.2m reel using an MDL Generation 2 Reel Drive System and ancillary handling equipment. MDL coordinated the programme through final reel preparation and loadout onto the installation vessel. The location of the PESB project offices alongside the quayside enabled direct oversight of the operations and close cooperation between MDL, the client and supply chain partners throughout execution.

The replacement export hose was successfully prepared, loaded out and deployed offshore, supporting the next phase of the FPSO programme. Delivering the scope through PESB provided continuity across inspection, assembly, testing, transpooling and loadout, helping the project progress within the required intervention timeframe.
