Landmark contract secured for US FPU pull-in solution
MDL has been awarded the engineering, design and supply of an 800Te riser pull-in package from an integrated energy major.
The bespoke system will be used for steel catenary risers (SCRs) and umbilical pull-in operations on a new Floating Production Unit (FPU) in the Gulf of America deep waters.
The MDL solution centres around a high-capacity linear winch, supported by a series of tailored handling aids. Its modular design has a strong focus on footprint efficiency and overall weight optimisation to reduce topside impact on the FPU, while allowing integration of 800Te linear winch package, umbilical and dive support winch systems in a confined area.
El Hadji Gano, MDL Global Pursuit Manager said:
“The client approached MDL for an 800Te riser pull-in solution with space and weight limitations on their FPU. We utilised our renowned engineering capabilities and experienced personnel to meet their stringent requirements.
“This award highlights MDL’s commitment to delivering handling solutions designed for the most demanding offshore environments. It also underscores our proven technical expertise and operational excellence - key drivers of our continued success in the global energy sector.”
