Project Manager - Flexlay Solutions
We are currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Flexlay Solutions team, reporting to the team's senior project manager. The Project Manager's role is to assume responsibility for the execution of allocated Flexlay projects that fall within MDL’s service offering. The Project Manager should take the full scope through its entire project life cycle, from initial specification/kick-off, through the engineering phases and up to offshore execution or delivery.
As a senior member of the projects team, the role will also involve supporting the Senior Project Manager in the team's development and mentoring programme.
Leadership
- Promote HSEQ leadership across the project, clients, vendors, and their sub-suppliers.
- Ensure positive engagement of all stakeholders and facilitate clear and concise communication channels both within MDL and with our clients.
- Support/mentor the team's ongoing personal development alongside the Senior Project Manager and Business Unit Manager.
Project Lifecycle
- Facilitate kick-off meetings on successful awards with the relevant project team members.
- Manage projects including scope of work, client interface and expectations, resources, budget, timelines, contract and deliverables.
- Performs cost monitoring and control of allocated projects, producing both internal and client project progress reports.
- Build a strong and effective working relationship with customers, partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
- Ensure all MDL procedures and processes are rigorously adhered to throughout the project.
- Responsible for planning all project activities within the overall project schedule, ensuring all actions and / or deliverables are allocated according to the project requirements.
- Manage all project interfaces between clients and MDL, their contractors and ours.
- Any other tasks pertinent to the successful execution of projects as per the Senior Project Manager’s requests.
Commercial Intensity
- Effectively manage and negotiate changes in work scopes and subsequent commercial impacts driven by clients, internally or from the supply chain to maximise MDLs contractual position.
- Understanding Contracts and terminology, with the ability to articulate the MDL position to stakeholders when necessary.
- Manage each Project as a mini P&L business – thorough understanding of Budgets and GM%.
Risk Management
- Development of a Risk Management Plan that is maintained throughout the life cycle of the project.
- Manage risks to avoid project delays, cost variances or reputational damage.
- Opportunity management, both towards the client and sub-contractors, to execute projects in accordance with Client contracts or sub-contractor contracts to best serve and protect MDL’s interests.

Stakeholder Management
- Communicate project progress including cost to budget, schedule to plan as well as early risk assessment and mitigation plans to MDL senior management on a weekly and monthly basis.
Qualifications (Education Experience and Training)
- Educated to degree level is preferred.
- Over 5 years of experience in project management and project engineering within an Oil and Gas or Engineering Service company is required.
- A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate is preferred.
- Experience managing a project P&L, reviewing and executing project contracts and managing client expectations.
- Experience with project cost control, cost controlling software and a track record of delivering projects on time and on-budget.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Thorough knowledge of formal project management methods, processes, procedures, techniques and tools – initiation-planning-execution-closure, Earned Value, Critical Path, MS Project, different stages of planning, risk & issue assessment, requirements analysis, estimating & costing.
- Ability to negotiate with clients in a project environment, present commercial and technical solutions for changes to work scopes to clients and develop win-win strategies.
- Ability to work within a team and work across departments to achieve a common goal.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Demonstrated proficiency in project management software, Microsoft Office applications, and database use and management.
- Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
- Skill and experience with small to medium-scale projects.

Offshore Personnel
Do you want to be a part of a forward-thinking team, challenging how things are done today to find improved solutions for tomorrow? Are you energetic and driven, with a real hunger to progress?
We are currently on the lookout for experienced Mechanical, Electrical & Hydraulic technicians to join our ever-growing team.
The primary role of Offshore Personnel is to ensure the proper operation, maintenance, and repair of MDL Flex-lay assets whilst offshore. This involves working with a range of equipment, hydraulics, control systems, and associated components used in the flex-lay operations of MDL equipment.
Being part of a small team of Electricians and Mechanics, you will also be responsible for assisting the Supervisor in compiling reports for onshore management.
Offshore Personnel will on occasion stand in for the MDL Team Lead/ Supervisor and act as focal point offshore ensuring clients' requirements are understood, prioritised, and delivered.
Desired Skills and Experience
- HNC (or equivalent) Engineering Qualification (Preferred)
- Modern Apprenticeship in Engineering or equivalent (Essential)
- Able to demonstrate competence in reading and understanding Mechanical Assembly and Hydraulic drawings (Essential)

Regional Manager – Americas
The Regional manager Americas will be responsible for securing and growing revenue within MDL’s existing portfolio of clients as well as seeking out new clients across the Americas. The role is expected to have a focus on hunting new businesses. A successful candidate will bring considerable experience in developing and implementing a sales strategy and launching products and services into new regions and markets. The individual will manage all business development activities, drive demand creation, close opportunities and identify new products solutions and services based on client feedback
Key Result Areas
- Achieve significant revenue growth across both MDL business units: Flex Lay Solutions and Engineering Solutions.
- Develop and implement Americas regional business development and sales strategy.
- Undertake cold calling with potential clients and cultivate strong, loyal relationships with existing key accounts at senior levels to deliver revenue targets.
- Ensure customer awareness of service offerings by spending time with clients (remotely or in-person).
- Responsible for building a pipeline of project opportunities across all business units.
- Actively and successfully manage the sales process: lead generation; corporate pitches; clarifications; technical solution pitches; negotiations and close deals.
- Work with the Contracts Manager to finalize client contract negotiations in the best interest of MDL in accordance with MDL contracting principles.
- Review and approve commercial models and proposals based on revenue and gross margin approval levels set by management.
- Analyze client and market data through the utilization of applicable systems and databases to develop a targeted approach to initiate contact and secure new business.
- Manage and maintain a pipeline and ensure all sales administration is kept current at all times using Salesforce software.
- Report all sales activities on a weekly basis
- Always deliver demonstrable excellent client experience, ensuring client needs are exceeded.
- Be proactive and responsive to all current clients and new client requests.
- Proactively develop and improve Business Development activities.
- Identify added-value service offerings which can increase MDL’s revenue (local partnerships, 3rd party services, or other).
- Support client management when projects have commercial challenges.
- Work closely with the Business Development and Sales Team, sharing knowledge, discussing ideas, and helping the team to achieve overall MDL financial budgets.
- Develop strong and effective working relationships with Executive Management and BU Management.
- Work closely with the Executive Team to assess opportunities and confirm that the type of work fits the company’s business model and risk profile.
- Effectively communicate client information and insights to the team.
- Ensure successful communication and collaboration within all areas of the business.
